Bio:

I am a paediatric nurse of over twenty years. I have a strong desire for providing the best quality of health care and safety for children and young people and their families. I have developed a passion for working with the most vulnerable children in society, those with special needs, disabilities, complex long term health conditions, and have specialised into roles relating to these. Currently, I am working as the Special Needs School Nursing Team Leader in the North Central London borough. Prior to my work as a Team Lead in special needs, I worked in Continuing Health Care, Palliative Care, Intensive Care and Accident and Emergency Departments. Safeguarding is an extremely large part of my role, and I advise on the most appropriate pathways to keep children safe with a strong emphasis in working together collaboratively and listening to the voice of the child. I have a degree in paediatric nursing, trained at degree level in safeguarding (level 6), OSCE practitioner (level 6), positive behaviour support practitioner and commencing a degree as a non-medical prescriber. Working as a nurse in the SEND sector for the last ten year, I am passionate about education and health and the role it plays in shaping a child’s future regardless of their additional needs. Throughout my career, I have witnessed first-hand how a supportive and nurturing school environment can enhance a child’s development and promote good health. As a school governor, I would be committed to the goal that all pupils regardless of their background or needs, have access to a safe educational experience. I would like to contribute my skills in health, safeguarding and SEND to help the school thrive, fostering a positive, inclusive atmosphere where every child can succeed.
