For the first half of this term, our Christian value is Care for Creation. We will be considering our responsibility for looking after the world and how this can be expressed in practical terms. In addition, we will be giving some thought to caring for our community, school, ourselves and our friends.
The value for the second half term is Thankfulness. Within this value we will be exploring what we have to be thankful for as well as how we could express our gratitude and thanks. The effects and impact of ingratitude will also be reflected upon.
The British value that is being considered this term is ‘Tolerance of different faiths and beliefs’. We will be developing an understanding that the freedom to choose and hold other faiths and beliefs is protected in law; an acceptance that other people having different faiths or beliefs to oneself (or having none) should be accepted and tolerated, and should not be the cause of prejudicial or discriminatory behaviour; and showing a growing understanding of the importance of identifying and combatting discrimination.
Please talk about these values with your children and ask them about what they are learning in assemblies as well as within class.
